This has been a month “on the move”.
For those of you who have attempted to contact me this last month, you will know that I’ve been busy with my second two-week child protection trial this year. This trial was particularly interesting since it raised some great legal issues and posed some factual challenges. Although it was an awesome experience, I am looking forward to “moving” back to the “calmer” side of my practice and doing some more collaborative work. Trials are hard on lawyers and even harder on clients.
The other challenge we are facing this month is our impending office move. Yes, we are moving to our (hopefully) permanent home next to the Royal Ontario Museum on Bloor (at Avenue Rd). Our new office address as of May 30, 2016 will be: 151 Bloor St. W., Suite 604, Toronto, Ontario, M5S 1S4 and we are less than a 5 minute walk from Museum Station and Bay Station. Our phone number and fax will remain the same.
The reason why we decided to make this move is because we have outgrown our current chambers. In addition, our new building is accessible to persons with disabilities (and parents with strollers!) and closer to a subway station, which are both important considerations for our clients. I also love the area and love the idea of being able to go to the ROM for a “break” as necessary. The logistics of planning this move has been challenging, but I cannot wait for this to happen – I believe it will work out well for our practice and for our clients.
